Tear down yourself for lent. Put on sackcloth and throw ashes upon yourself. Don’t take a failed New Year’s Resolution and turn it into a Lent Offering.
We choose things that common sense tells us we need to stop or moderate our in take. That’s not a lent offering, use that to repent from selfishness.
Instead of stopping thing, or refraining from thing, offer up yourself in discipline. Carve out time to pray. In the morning, at work, at home in the evening, for others - beyond the ones you like, the one you hate too. Offer yourself up I’m repentance. Stop condemning yourself by backbiting, and gossip. Give yourself clean lips, so that you my proclaim the Word of God in Truth. Stop thanking God and Jesus for everythang, and start asking the Holy Spirit “what now?” Grow up, mature. Spend 40 days practicing analyzing your walk as a Christian (Gal 6:4), and you’ll stop whatever it is you plan to stop for the New Year.
